This new blog entry is more than overdue. I cannot believe how fast the Fall has come and the summer has gone! Getting the kids back to school and back into a routine was a lot harder this Fall then in years past. My eldest is in her first year of College. So, as those of you who've done this already know, this took alot of adjustment on my part more so than hers! She's loving it and learning more than just what's in class. Thankfully, all good. Independence, laundry, and bus times and routes...
My boys were previously attending 2 different schools, but in mid-September we brought the youngest over to our Lutheran School closest to home. This is a transition that he hasn't quite completed. Patience and lots of conversations with teachers is finally making a difference. A Christian school has been one of the best thing we've done for our kids!
Boys and Baseball goes hand in hand and the baseball postseason has got my household watching TV late into the night. We've been Rays fans for years and so you can image what this postseason success has meant to my boys! We can't get enough. Game 2 of the World Series tonight... GO RAYS!!

Happy Mother's Day!
What a wonderful, quiet afternoon at my house! My husband and daughter are both taking well deserved naps and I'm watching "Tora,Tora,Tora" with my oldest son. After the filling breakfast at Bob Evans, it was sooo easy to just sink into the closest couch cushion and just be with the family.
It's good be without a schedule for a day! We're going to go walk through an art's/craft's show this afternoon - should be fun.
Mother's Day today, so our thoughts our on our mothers. Without whom, we would not be. Without their constant love and support, we wouldn't be where we are. God Bless Mothers and the important work they do every day! Raising children is the hardest, most rewarding, terrifying, funnest, most difficult, and best job I'll ever have.

Summer vacation... what to do, where to go?
Saw the price of gas this morning at $2.99/gallon and almost dusted off the bike to ride to work today!!
I was trying to explain the law of supply and demand to my son last week and even in his 11y world - the ever increasing price of gas didn't make sense! He declared that it was time to come up with something else. Smart boy. I explained that there were people already working on that and he wanted to know when they were going to find it. Good question!
But nonetheless, we are still planning to "get away" a bit this summer. Looks like a cruise in a houseboat on the Cumberland River is the family plan this year. Kids can't wait. They are already claiming in-the-wall bunks and planning their necessary gear to take along. They're wondering how their going to pack their Wi and still have room for games, books, and toys! I haven't really broke it to them yet, but the electronics are staying home to rest. Hope the kids survive! :o)
Looking forward to a little R&R. A time to consider priorities again. A time to breathe deeply and fully. Then my list of "choose or lose" may look a little less daunting.

I'm busy. I mean really busy! Like most working mother's in America, I don't just work a 40h/wk job but care for, clean up, cook for, shop for, worry over, transport and cheer on the kids and husband and dog. I love to be a part of every church committee, and professional organization. I lead and I follow, but I almost always have to join.
I love to be busy. Makes me feel productive and necessary, I guess. But sometimes the need to be helpful, takes away my ability to say "no". Anyone else have this affliction?
If Mr. Peebles is correct, then I must be a bit of a mess. Because most of the time, I'm thinking about where I need to go next. Alittle bit of this and alittle bit of that.
I guess "Focus" is what is diverted in my life. I've been to plenty of workshops or seminars that speak finding what's important and driving your energy in that direction. So I know the principles, but not the courage to cut out the less imperatives in my life.
Publilius Syrus was a Latin writer from the 1st century. What's interesting about his following quote is that being pulled in several different directions (stress, if you will) is nothing new to our day and age:
Publilius Syrus: "To do two things at once is to do neither."
A saying I am going to try to remember. Now ... what to choose and what to lose?
